Celebrian of Lorien by shyangell Celebrian of Lorien by shyangell
I completed the third one of my elven pictures. It's Celebrían of Lórien, from the Silmarillion and Lord of the Rings book.

People: Sindarin (with Noldorin heritage)
Father: Celeborn of Doriath
Mother: Galadriel
Husband: Elrond Peredhel
Children: Elladan, Elrohir and Arwen

Celebrñian of Lórien is a marginal character in the Tolkien mythos because she isn't present at the time of any of the great legends of Old, but instead became influent during the times of the Watching Peace. She was born presumably beetwen the time of the Fall of Doriath and the fall of Eregion; and by the begining of the Third Age married Elrond Peredhel and became the Lady of Rivendell. The rose orchard she kept in the fragrant gardens of the mountain valley was famous. After the fall of Angmar, she made a trip to Lórien, in which she was captured by orcs od the Misty Mountains and tortured. Her sons rescued her, and brought her home, but although her body healed, her spirit didn't. To prevent her from fading, she went on a voyage over the seas to Aman to heal and wait for her family to join her in the Blessed Realm. Her illness, was the fact behind the blood-rage of the twin sons of Elrond.

Beautiful, graceful and has an air of magic about her. Yep, she's Galadriel's daughter alright.

She does appear in the Silmarillion's Family Tree for the House of Finwë and in HoME. Her story also appears there.

Celebrindal or Celebrian? I see her in Olwe family tree.(Right now looking in the book)

Question what is HoME?, sorry but I speak spanish, so I'm not good guessing what it mean... gosh I forgett the word, when one's said somthing just whit inicial letters (I forgett it in spanish! xD)

This is Celebrian, Galadriel's Daughter, thus grandaughter of Olwë. Celebrindal is the epessë of Idirl, Turgon's daughter and a Noldor of Gondolin, who married Tuor of the mannish House of Haldor Lórindol.

HoME is "History of Middle Earth" a compendium of Tolkien's notes published by Christopher Tolkien... that shows the story evolution. I'm a bit of a geek, so I've read volume 9 I think?... Anyways I love Hidden Lore!!!

Puedes escribirme en español si quieres. Te entiendo perfectamente. ;)

ONLINE! ;)

I really love your whole art-noveau series, but this one is my favourite due to the pose and facial expression and the warm, glowing feeling of the coloration. And you managed to capture the mucha-look very well!

This has to be my favorite from your series of art nouveau ladies of Middle Earth. Love the use of warm colors, and the character's pose makes her look as if she's floating.
Wonderfully done!

Thank you... but truth is I chose this stance for her becaus I didn't have the slighest idea of what features I wanted her to have. This way she has a nice dreamy expression and yet, you don't see her face! ;)

yeah, somehow a lighter, more elegent style than the more classical ones used by men, and also more organic in many ways. It suits them well :)

Excellent character, she was vital to the story, and her own story was very grim. It does a lot to explain why the Elves were getting tired of Middle Earth. Your portrayal of her is excellent, she doesn't look like another version of Galadriel.

No. In the few descriptions that exist of her, it is metioned her hair was silver (it is logical as so is Celeborn's and Earwen's her grandomther). I've always imagined she looks and acts more like Celeborn. I don't know why.
